Whānau Āwhina Plunket is a Well Child provider. It is Aotearoa New Zealand's largest provider of support services for the development, health and wellbeing of tamariki (children) and whānau (family).

Free health and development checks

You can have up to 7 appointments with Plunket or another Well Child Tamariki Ora provider. These take place before your baby turns 5. Most appointments are in your child's first year, when support is most helpful.

PlunketLine

Call 0800 933 922 for parenting help. This is a free, 24/7 service (calls are also free from cellphones).

You don't need to be a Plunket client to use PlunketLine.

When you call PlunketLine your call will be answered by a Plunket nurse, who can give you advice and information on parenting issues and your child's health and wellbeing.

You can also get free online specialist support with breastfeeding and sleep through PlunketLine.

Pregnancy and Parenting Education Programme (antenatal courses)

Whānau Āwhina Plunket provides Pregnancy and Parenting Education (also known as antenatal) courses on behalf of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand in the following areas around Aotearoa:

North Island

  • Hamilton
  • Matamata

South Island

  • Canterbury
  • Waimate (South Canterbury)
  • West Coast
  • Southern
