Your breastmilk makes a big difference to both your baby's health and yours.

Breastmilk helps protect your baby from tummy upsets, ear infections and respiratory infections, and may reduce the risk of diabetes, obesity and SUDI (sudden unexplained death in infancy).

If you have family or whānau who suffer from food allergies, breastfeeding may reduce the chance of your baby developing allergies.

It helps your body recover after the birth, and can help reduce the weight gained in pregnancy. Breastfeeding also reduces the risk of breast cancer.

Breastfeeding keeps you and your baby close and helps your baby feel safe and loved.
