Side effects of chemotherapy

Chemotherapy medicines cannot tell the difference between normal cells and cancer cells and affect all cells that divide rapidly. The damage caused to normal cells may lead to side effects.

Side effects of radiation therapy

The side effects your child may experience from radiation therapy depend on where on the body they receive radiation therapy and the dose of radiation. Side effects can be either short-term (acute) or long-term (late).

Infections during cancer treatment

While your child is having cancer treatment they may have a weakened immune system. This can put them at risk of developing infections.
